ビルマの民主化を求める在日ビルマ人ら約300人はきょう、東京・品川にある在日ビルマ大使館前で集会を開き、ビルマ国内で明日7日に実施される総選挙を中止するよう訴えた。

在日ビルマ人らは、民主化運動指導者のスーチー氏の写真や「総選挙は中止しろ」などと書かれたプラカードを手に、同日午後2時ころから集まり始め、同大使館前の歩道を埋め尽くす約300人が集合した。
参加者らは約2時間、大使館前の歩道に立ち並び、最後の5分間で「ビルマ軍事政権は総選挙をやめろ！」「日本政府はビルマの総選挙を認めるな！」などとシュプレヒコールを上げた。

大使館に反応はなかったが、明日7日も午前10時ころから抗議を続けるという。

ビルマ軍事政権は明日7日、民主化運動指導者のスーチー氏を含む2,100人以上の政治囚と多くの少数民族を除外し、“民主化に向けた最終プロセス”と位置付けた総選挙を実施する。
