都内で27日、在日ビルマ人ら約400人が「非民主的なビルマ総選挙に対する抗議行動」と題し、デモ行進を行った。
デモ隊は、千代田区霞が関の官庁街を通り、「ビルマ総選挙は非民主的で公正さを欠いている」として、総選挙の反対とボイコットをアピールした。
また、日本政府に対しても、ビルマの民主化問題や人権問題について、毅然とした態度で望むよう求めた。
ビルマ軍事政権は来月7日、民主化運動指導者のアウン・サン・スー・チーさんを含む2,100人以上の政治囚と多くの少数民族を除外し、“民主化に向けた最終プロセス”と位置付けた総選挙を実施する。
