「長井健司記念賞」創設のお知らせ
謹啓 時下益々、ご清栄のこととお喜び申し上げます。
この度、ビルマ人ジャーナリストらによって、「長井健司記念賞」が創設され、
合わせて、タイのチェンマイで今月２１日、第１回授賞式が執り行われる予定です。
皆さまにおかれましては、ぜひ取材にお越し頂きたく、主催者に代わりまして、
ご案内とお願いを申し上げます。

◆「長井健司記念賞」とは
ビルマ・ヤンゴンで一昨年９月２７日、市民らによる反政府デモを取材中に
ビルマ軍兵士の故意による銃撃で死亡した長井健司さん（当時５０歳／愛媛県今治市出身）の
ジャーナリスト魂を受け継ごうと、真実のビルマ報道に貢献したジャーナリストに贈られる、
長井健司記念賞が創設されました。
この賞は、一周忌直後の去年１０月、ビルマにおける報道と表現の自由を守る
ビルマ人ジャーナリストらの協会、ＢＭＡ（Burma Media Association／本部・ノルウェー）が、
長井さんのご両親の快諾を得て実現したものです。
◆第１回受賞者は投獄の身
第１回受賞者は、去年５月にビルマ南西部を襲った大型サイクロン・ナルギスの被災地の様子を
取材・報道したビルマ人女性ジャーナリスト、エイン・カイン・ウーさん（２４歳）です。
エインさんは現在、「政府に反抗した」として、ビルマ軍事政権に拘束され、ヤンゴン郊外にある
インセイン刑務所に投獄（禁固２年）されています。
◆授賞式は今月２１日
タイ北部のチェンマイで今月２１日から、ＢＭＡの世界会議が開かれます。
その会議の初日に、長井健司記念賞の授賞式が執り行われる予定です。
授賞式には、投獄されているエインさんに代わって、エインさんの友人らが出席し、
ＡＰＦ通信社の代理人から、長井さんの顔写真が入ったクリスタルの盾と賞金が贈呈されます。
